What do I look for when I hire an appraiser?

Make sure your appraisers are licensed. Make sure they are accredited members of an organization the represents professional appraisers. Real property appraisers usually specialize in residential, commercial or rural property work.
Make sure you choose someone familiar with the kind of property involved and someone who has experience working in the appropriate area.
Make sure you are supplied with a résumé and references if you ask. Every reputable accredited appraiser will provide this information and you shouldn't hire someone who doesn't.
